Merriam Lane Reconstruction Project Public Meeting

The Unified Government is hosting a public meeting on the Merriam Lane Reconstruction Project, 24th to 10th Street.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (open house, come anytime).  It will be held in the Rosedale Development Association Meeting Room at 1401 Southwest Boulevard, Kansas City, KS 66103 (southwest corner of Soutwest Boulevard and South 8th Street).

The project will completely upgrade the road, including new pavement, curbs, sidewalks, driveways and storm drainage.  Major drainage crossing under the road will be improved.  The new roadway will include dedicated bike lanes.  Construction will begin in late 2014.

This is the first public meeting on the project, and we will be presenting the concept design.  Interested property owners and the public are encouraged to attend.  Information learned at this meeting will help us as we begin the process of detailed design.

If you have questions regarding this project, please contact Unified Government Public Works at 913-573-5400.  Please ask for Bill Heatherman, County Engineer, or Troy Shaw, Project Engineer, or by email bheatherman@wycokck.org or tshaw@wycokck.org.

Welcome

Welcome to the online home of the Green Corridor Master Plan, a planning process now underway that aims to develop a comprehensive master plan encompassing both physical and social environments for the Green Corridor, a section of Southwest Boulevard/Merriam Lane running 3.9 miles through Wyandotte County.  This corridor connects Johnson County, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.  This project aims to increase access to affordable food and physical activity; to make the Corridor safer, cleaner and more pedestrian and bicycle friendly; to help Rosedale’s children be healthy and active; and to change policies affecting the physical, economic and social environment through education and advocacy.

Want to get involved?  Check out the list of upcoming events or contact Rosedale Development Association.

Stay tuned – we’ll be updating the website regularly with news and updates from the Green Corridor!
